How the prices are collected
The index counts what businesses advertise on their own public pages. This page says exactly how, so anyone can judge the numbers and ask for a correction.
Where the prices come from
Only prices that a business advertises on its own public web pages. We read the page the way a visitor would. We respect each site’s robots.txt, and a page it asks us not to read is not read.
No business is named
No business name, web address or town is stored in the published data or shown on any page. The raw page text is deleted once the prices have been extracted from it. To audit and de-duplicate, a business is kept only as a short hash of its web address, which cannot be turned back into a name.
What counts as a price
A figure with a stated unit, such as per clean, per house wash or per driveway. Where a business lists a range, we use its midpoint. Where it lists several sizes, it counts once in that row, using the middle of its own figures. A price marked as a starting point (“from”) is counted and reported separately as a share. Figures with no stated unit are not used.
When a number is published
A cell (one trade in one country) is published only when at least 30 different businesses have a usable price. A row inside a cell appears only when at least 10 businesses are behind it. Below that, nothing is shown.
Owner submissions are a separate series
Owners can add their own rates, anonymously, from the Workely calculators and the price check. Those are stored apart from this index, are never mixed into these figures, and carry no name, email or address.
How it is checked
Each release, a 10 percent sample of the prices is re-checked by hand against the page it was read from.
What the figures are
They are advertised prices, historical, for the month named on each page. They are not advice on what to charge, and they are not what customers paid.
A correction or a removal
If a figure looks wrong, or you run a business and want your pages left out of future releases, email hello@workely.ai with the web address. We will answer and, for a removal, leave that business out of every later release.
